1. Who we are
Skillinsta (skillinsta.com) is a live training platform that connects aspirants with trainers and institutes. References to "we", "us", or "Skillinsta" in this policy refer to the platform and its operators. For questions, contact us at support@skillinsta.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and data generated by your use of the platform:
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photo, and handle when you register.
- Authentication data: When you log in via Google OAuth or WhatsApp OTP, we receive a verified identity token. We do not store your Google or WhatsApp password.
- Payment information: Payments are processed by Razorpay. We store only the transaction ID, amount, and status — never your card or bank details.
- Content you create: Posts, comments, questions, classroom messages, and materials you upload.
- Usage data: Pages visited, sessions attended, recordings watched, and feature interactions — used to improve the platform.
- Device & connection data: IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system for security and debugging.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- To process enrollments, payments, and issue receipts.
- To send transactional notifications (OTP, enrollment confirmation, session reminders) via WhatsApp and email.
- To display your profile, posts, and activity to other users per your privacy settings.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To improve platform features through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
- With your explicit consent — to send marketing or promotional messages. You can opt out any time by replying STOP on WhatsApp or using the unsubscribe link in emails.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- With trainers and institutes you enroll with — they see your name and contact details to manage the classroom relationship.
- Service providers: Supabase (database & auth), Cloudflare (CDN & storage), AWS SES (email), Razorpay (payments), LiveKit (video), and Meta (WhatsApp) — bound by their own privacy policies.
- Legal compliance: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Data storage & security
Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union (Hetzner Cloud) and US (Supabase/Cloudflare). We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, and access to the database is restricted to authorised systems only. OTPs are stored as one-way hashes and expire within 10 minutes. No system is 100% secure — if you discover a vulnerability, please report it to support@skillinsta.com.
6. Session recordings
Live classroom sessions are recorded and stored in Cloudflare R2. Recordings are accessible only to enrolled students and the trainer. Trainers may choose to disable recording for a specific session. Recordings are retained for as long as the classroom is active.
7. Your rights & data deletion
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
- Delete your account and all associated data — email support@skillinsta.com with the subject line "Delete My Account" and we will permanently remove your data within 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations (e.g. payment records required by tax law).
- Opt out of WhatsApp marketing by replying STOP to any message from us.
- Data portability — request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
Facebook / Meta connected data: If you connected your account via Facebook or used WhatsApp for authentication, you may request deletion of any data shared from Meta platforms by emailing support@skillinsta.com. We will confirm deletion within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use a single HttpOnly cookie to store your refresh token securely. This cookie is essential for authentication and cannot be disabled while you are logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
9. Children's privacy
Skillinsta is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of Skillinsta after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
